Anyone that knows me knows that spring is my all time favorite season. Everything just comes alive from the winter months. The birds are singing their opera, the flowers bloom into beautiful masterpieces. The ozarks come alive. It seems after a calm long rain, you wake up to the trees with green leaves, the redbud trees in the blazing glory of color, the dogwoods with their delicate pink and white blooms. The smell of fresh dirt. Is just doesn’t get any better. Here’s a little spring for you.
My last senior session for 2019
This senior was so easy going but I knew he had a definite artistic side to him. Davin would love to be a tattoo artist after he graduates. I would love to photograph his work! He was so easy going and game for anything. I stuck with a more urban feel for his shoot and added some textures and edginess to some of his images to fit his personality. Here is a sneak peak!
Congratulations Davin, 2019 graduating class of Eureka Springs High School!

With so many colors out there, how do you choose which you want for your wedding or vow renewal? I have always love the combination of pink and green, but if I were a bride, how would I coordinate it all together? Pantone has a great tool to use to help you. There are so many beautiful color combinations, which one grabs you?
The Pantone Color Institute partnered with WeddingWire, a global leader in the wedding industry, to deliver aspirational, yet attainable inspiration for couples planning to wed in 2019.
Color is one of the first details couples think about when establishing their wedding style and theme. The 2019 Wedding Color Palettes by WeddingWire x Pantone Color Institute were curated by the Pantone Color Institute to help set the stage for nuptials of newly engaged couples throughout the year.
“Color is a powerful tool – not just for enhancing aesthetics that are critical to every element of a wedding – but to evoke emotion and create the special mood that a couple wishes to communicate throughout their special day from playful and adventurous to romantic and timeless, and everything in between.” said Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute. “In concert with the resources and planning tools from WeddingWire, these custom palettes created by The Pantone Color Institute are intended to help couples navigate their color and design choices in an inspiring, meaningful and uniquely memorable way.” Pantone’s wedding colors Information taken directly from the website.
While there are trends, go with what you love. You do not want regrets later. If you love the vintage look, go for those colors, or perhaps you like light and airy, then choose the pastels. Also, be sure to find a photographer that matches your style as well. Look at their website, ask them questions, can you see your wedding photos matching this style? No one style is wrong or better, but each photographer does have their own. You want to be sure it is a good fit.
Another site that shows beautiful coordinating color combinations is from Magnetstreet.com.
Did you know we do head and model shots? Take a look at Journey, isn’t this he cutest? We did both Mom and Son.
I love color! I love Pantone! Join them together with weddings and they can help you find the perfect combination! Wedding Wire just released a quiz to take to help you find your perfect colors! And who doesn’t love quizzes???
Here is a great article from the NY Times informing us how Pantone decides on the color. This is important info as many designers in clothes, furniture, fabrics, cars, anything with design watch for what Patone is publishing. What the hottest colors for your wedding? Incorporate coral!
January its been real……Hello February!
Happy Friday everyone. Time to reflect on the week. I have been thinking about exploring an idea I have had for a while. I always strive to be a better person, this is not only personally but professionally as well. There are many ways in which we grow. Sometime it is hard as we can be insecure by another person or by exploring outside the box. It is easy to be afraid or threantened. But will you grow from what you go through? You won’t know unless you try.
Sometimes life throws a curve ball at you and when it does you have to decide how you will let this define you. I am starting something a bit new with Lema Street Photography and have honestly gone back and forth with implementing this idea. Well I am moving forward. Why? This will introduce me to new people and anyone that knows me knows I LOVE people! Secondly, I get to use my camera…..duh right? Well, sort of, I am using my photography skills in a different way. I am growing with trends and will see where it takes me.
So my motto this week is grow through what you go through. More to come on this!
Have a safe and happy weekend.
Ciao for now!
Do you sometimes feel you are lost in time and space? I think we all have from time to time (no pun intended). This is when it is important to create boundaries with no guilt, if not we find the blood gets sucked right out of us. This is soooo not good for yourself or those around you. This photo is one I took just last night capturing the Super Blood Wolf Moon eclipse.
Find Your Space
Lost in time and space.
I thought what am I doing out here other than to see this beautiful moon. I have work to do, sleep to get and then as I was in my element, tripod up, happily snapping away, I was in the moment. Not only looking at my camera settings, but stopping and looking at this moon. Looking at my husband looking at the moon. I thought how incredible. I am so lucky to not only see the solar eclipse of 2017, but now to capture this.
Normally I would have gone to bed and woke up to incredible photos. And I would have had that sinking feeling thinking I wish I would of…..again. Well I did. I found my space. My husband (my number one supporter) warmed up the car and we loaded up and off we went.
Our first location (very convenient to our home) was too bright with parking lot lights. So we loaded up again (totally confusing our dog) and off to an abandoned property with no lights. It was kind of creepy, but that feeling left as soon as I was shooting.
My point is we need to find our space. Find what is important to us with no regrets and set our boundaries. I purposely did not schedule any bookings for January 2019 as there were things I wanted to learn and do and read. December was a kick butt month, but I needed my space. This allowed me to refresh and rejuvenate. This allowed me to think about how I want 2019 to look like. I can’t say I know for sure, but I am feeling pretty darn good right now being in my space. Set your boundaries and enjoy your new space.
Ciao ~ Susane

Baylee marries her Prince Charming, Nick.
This is a love story come true for Baylee and an emotional story. Baylee truly did meet her Prince Charming. Baylee has given me permission to share her story as she is an advocate for abused women. Her first marriage was not a happily ever after ending. Baylee was abused, lived in a women’s shelter with her two little girls and has had to have therapy to move on with her life. But the happy ending, she is doing it. And in the midst of a nasty divorce trying to get her life back on track, she meets Nick.
Nick is a kind and gentle soul who helped Baylee with love and patience one day at a time. Together, they are building their marriage on love, trust, patience and honesty. Baylee wants all of the women out their who are abused to know you do have options, you have to be brave and take the step to get help. Baylee did, she finally realized it was not her fault, it was ok to have another person be kind to her and she did deserve it.
I am so fortunate to be a part of their very personal and special day. That Baylee felt comfortable enough in me and trusted me to share her story, and now her love story. Congratulations Nick & Baylee, I know you this and the world is now your oyster! Together you two can handle anything.
There are times I am my own worst enemy. I get into a fixed pattern and when I start to see it, I know it is time to challenge myself. Break down this mental barrier I developed without realizing it. But when I do, I begin to ask questions such as what if, why, can I? I want to push boundaries, look for variety, look for newness and challenge myself. Getting out and about and making things happen. Starting a project and feeling that awesome sense of accomplishment when I get it done.
I am always interested in articles or documentaries on photography. This article on CNN was inspirational. The internet is a tremendous resource fo information and inspiration. Sometime we tend to look at what we see posted but forget about basics. This article shares 19th century work with a video interview from Chen Men that I found thought provoking on visual language.
I then went back to very basics, to a collection I purchased from a flea market and refresh some of the foundations needed to produce the perfect image. Click on the link, inspiration comes in many ways. Color combinations, scenes, expressions. Perhaps you will find some sort of inspiration too. Let’s see what kind of trouble we can get into!
Life Library of Photography
It’s officially here, 2019 in all it’s glory. The resolutions are flying, gym memberships going up, and new fashion trends are starting. As a photographer I watch for new trends in fashion, color and of course photography. I went to get my hair done and a young college student who is studying fashion merchandising in NYC was working for the holiday break. She had on the CUTEST boots ever. WHITE BOOTS! I swear I have loved white go-go boots as I called them since the 60’s so I am for one excited to see them comeback. Well I love boots! My favorite go to are a pair of Dr. Martens with red roses embroidered on them. I have cowboy boots, tall brown boots, fun rain boots, well too many boots. Wait, did I say too many? Nah…..never!
Today’s trends are not your grandma’s go-go boots, they are showing them in many styles. And do you know what? I want a pair! Yep, I turn 60 this year and I am getting those damn go-go boots. Ok, more like booties for comfort that I can wear while shooting and yet be fun and fashionable.
I can see these boots on brides for a western or bohemian styled wedding, or seniors dressing in the latest trends.
What about you? Are you into the white boots trend? Post below if you have a pair, I want to see them or just share what you think about them.
I love these boots by Steve Madden. Perfect for shooting photography in!
First, I want to thank you, our clients this past year. We would not be where we are today without you. Here is to wishing you the very best New Year ever! I am excited for 2019 and looking forward to some new adventures. Enjoy the New Year festivities and please, be safe. Cheers!
I loved this downtown Eureka Springs fall wedding. We lucked out with PERFECT weather! Julie and Heather were so so awesome to work with. They were the epitome of laid back and made the whole wedding day just a lot of fun without stressing. And I got to shoot in my backyard! Well almost, they got married at Red Bud Manor which is my neighbor. I literally walked to the shoot - BONUS for me! It’s one of my favorite locations for a wedding. Then we I drove them around town to hit highlights so their images were indicative of Eureka Springs!
Congratulations to this very smart, quiet, sophisticated senior, Ana. Ana will be graduating from Eureka Springs High School with the class of 2019. This brilliant senior is going on for her accounting degree at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith! You rock Ana!
Yes, here we have another senior graduating in 2019. But this is not your average senior, this gal here is a sweet, kind and gentle soul. She is courageous and generous with what little she has to give. She is motivated despite the tough road that lays ahead. She is a fighter but with a gentle touch, this is Novaleigh Cline. My assistant whom I got to know this past year. We have grown close and if there is anyone whom I have met that I can say without a doubt will be successful in life, it is this determined young woman. Whatever path she takes, she will walk it straight and tall and she will overcome any obstacle with whatever journey she decides. Congratulations Nova, we could not be more proud to be a part of your life!
Yeah, it’s Saturday and I am a happy camper with my hot cup of coffee. Had my morning chat with my daughter and my mother. All good there. The sun is shining and life is good! I have three photo sessions I am wrapping up and a few shoots left before the end of 2018! Yes, can you believe it? Only 10 days until Christmas! And amazingly enough I am ready! I am feeling motivated so back to editing, need to get these beautiful images off to my clients. Happy Saturdaze everyone! Ciao!
Just two people in love in every way possible. Sneak peak of Baylee & Nick’s elopement. What long strange ride for these two. Driving from Oklahoma, they were half way to Eureka and had to turn around as Nick left part of his uniform at home. Once on the road again, about half way to Eureka (again), they ended up with a flat tire. They spent the night and had the tire replaced in the morning arriving just in time for Baylee to have her make up done by the very talented Maggie Mae, owner of Blossom Beauty. Baylee looked perfectly radiant!
It rained but it did not stop these two from venturing out in the beautiful scenic area of Oakcrest Cottages and Tree Houses which was perfect with the tall pines enveloped by the soft drizzle and fog. Their chapel is perfect for elopements with the beautiful waterfall in the background. I think it gave such a romantic look to their images. Did it rain on their parade? You bet! Did all of these obstacles dampen their day? Heck no! These two love birds will be together forever. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Harris!
