Make a wish....

We all are enamored with the dandelion. The weed that offers hopes and dreams. We blow on it to make a wish we hope comes true. When first starting Lema Street Photography, I went through a few names, starting with my own. It was recommended by our lawyer to not use our name. So I went with the name of our LLC, Enlil. Enlil just didn't seem to be catchy. So I went with Dandiflower. Why? When my oldest grandson Micah (now 16) was little he called dandelions dandi-flowers. They were by all accounts a flower to him. I loved that he saw the beauty in a weed. It was by no account a weed, but a beautiful yellow flower.

There is also another significance to this weed. And it goes like this: "Dandelion your're like me. Set a drift to ride the breeze. Drifiting here and settling there. To grow as if you have no care.... Dandelion I'm like you! Of my future, I've no clue! I put down roots that have no glue. So I'll move to somewhere new." This poem was dedicated to military children, such as my grandchildren. They have moved, their unit often broken when my son-in-way would deploy for months at a time. But it made them a stronger unit. So when I look at a dandelion, it has a different meaning for me. When I blow on one, I see the faces of military children scattered across our globe. Children doing what all kids do, picking up a dandelion, blowing on it, wishing and hoping.
